School Board members met Monday to re-evaluate spending and priorities under the 2012-13 school year budget.
The meeting came on the heels of the County Board of Supervisors straw vote last week to increase school funding by 4.5 percent; the School Board had requested 8.9 percent.
The Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to adopt a $6.7 billion budget. Fairfax County Public Schools will receive $1.85 billion — or about 53 percent —of the county’s general fund.
In February, School Board members voted on an advertised schools budget of $2.4 billion for 2012-13, which included about a $200 million increase in the county’s funding transfer from the current school year’s budget of $2.2 billion.
